Chaiti Sen

A passionate communication professional, I have never lived by the book. Bending the rules is what I do best, which is probably why at 5ft 1’ I was the shortest basketball player in my school team. I haven’t grown any taller since then but I still can beat my nearly 6ft husband at hoops.

By Indian standards, I am almost an odd-ball. I did not complete my “higher education” when the time was right, worked late and hard at every job, partied even harder, married way too late and instead of “settling down,” by which I mean having a house, a dog and two kids, I chose to drop the career I had built for myself to go back to academics.

I am a practical feminist with a little bit of Elizabeth Salander in me. I want to right the world of all evils and fight all myopic views on race, gender and color. But unlike Salander, I am a communicator at heart and believe that prejudices can be dissolved by visiting new places, immersing in new cultures, meeting new people, listening to their life experiences and carrying forward those stories into the world.

As I prepare myself for an increasingly globalized world, I work for General Motors and manage grassroots communications in the Northeast. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Public Relations from the University of Southern California and have over 10 years of experience in the field of PR and marketing communications. I have worked with people across the world and have over five years of experience in managing multi-cultural teams.
