On Saturday, October 13, Alicia Keys, Brandy, Keyshia Cole, India Arie, Ciara and SWV, took the stage at New York City’s historic Paradise Theater for BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Awards 2012, the highly anticipated awards show dedicated to recognizing the achievements and accomplishments of remarkable women of color, which premieres Sunday, November 4, on BET Networks.

Founded by celebrity DJ and Philanthropist, Beverly Bond, BLACK GIRLS ROCK! is dedicated to promoting positive images of women of color in mass media and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to the healthy development of young women and girls since 2006. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! seeks to build the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons and helping them to empower themselves.

BLACK GIRLS ROCK! 2012 celebrants, who walked the red carpet, included actress Kerry Washington (Star Power Award); Grammy Award-winning music legend Dionne Warwick (Living Legend Award); magazine editor, writer and journalist Susan Taylor (Inspiration Award); singer-songwriter Alicia Keys (Rock Star Award); and human rights activists and doctors Dr. Hawa Abdi and her daughters (Social Humanitarian Award). The all-new redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu looked hot on the red carpet as well, serving as a backdrop for several of the weekend’s celebratory activities. Chevrolet, in its second year of supporting BLACK GIRLS ROCK!, was proud to sponsor the tribute to Kerry Washington.

Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King, BLACK GIRLS ROCK! 2012 will premiere internationally on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
