The Chevrolet Volt, Sonic and Cruze took to the road with eight D.C. food bloggers this week to take a bite out of all that Frederick, Md. has to offer during the third annual Frederick Restaurant Week.

Frederick is not exactly a stone’s throw from D.C., but the culinary offerings are worth the 40 mile drive outside the city. For this reason, it was not hard to entice some of D.C.’s most popular food bloggers to accept a Chevrolet one-week loan to take a ride to Frederick and participate in some activities cooked up by Chevrolet, Downtown Frederick Partnership, Tourism Council of Frederick County and none other than Bryan Voltaggio’s Lunchbox.

The blogs that participated in this excursion including Lisa Shapiro diningindc.net, Hoang-Kim Vu dcwrappeddates.com, Jon Eick sogoodblog.com, Samantha Grieder capitalcookingshow.com, Bindesh Shrestha desigrub.com, Mary Kong girlmeetsgoodfood.com and Johnna Rowe johnnaknowsgoodfood.com.

The Downtown Frederick Partnership and Tourism Council of Frederick County partnered with Chevrolet to host a private food tour on Saturday, March 3, 2012 offering the bloggers a hearty sample of the dishes to be offered during the week at participating restaurants. The tour stops included samplings from Moxie Bakery and Café, Juliet’s Italian Market & Café, Firestone’s Culinary Tavern, Brewer’s Alley, The Red Horse Steak House and Shab Row Bistro and Wine Bar, in tasting order.  Bloggers were invited to spend the night with a free stay provided by Courtyard Marriott before hopping in their Chevrolet loaner to head back to the City.

Bryan Voltaggio, a Chevrolet Volt enthusiast himself invited the bloggers to take another ride to Frederick on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 to sample his restaurant week menu offerings during a private dinner at his popular new eatery, Lunchbox. Bryan took to the grill himself and fielded questions from the bloggers in an intimate roundtable discussion. Bryan ended the evening by gifting each blogger with a signed copy of Volt ink., a cookbook collaboration by the Voltaggio brothers.
