On Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, at the Washington Auto Show, we hosted a special group of D.C. area military personnel, including some of the nominees and the winner of our 2011 Chevrolet Military Salute D.C. program. Our distinguished guests joined us for an hour of mixing, mingling and reflection as we honored the military members’ service to their country.
Doug Waite, GM’s president of the Veteran’s Affinity Group, joined in celebrating our attendees last night. He had these kind words to share with the group, “We are here this evening to recognize and honor the service men and women of the armed forces. Like you, Chevrolet embodies the American spirit of freedom, sacrifice, and the belief that all things are possible.” Robert Powers, a colleague of our 2011 Chevrolet Military Salute D.C. winner, retired Col. Robert Kwalwasser, had this to say, “he is an inspiration as a hero, dad and leader. He inspires me daily with his devotion to his country and his family. I’m proud to be your friend.”
Our guests received a guided tour of the GM exhibit at the auto show, including a look at the “American Pride” 2011 Chevrolet Camaro, as well as a small gift bag as a token of our continued appreciation of their service. The fun didn’t end with our party, though; Tuesday was also the auto show’s military day, where all military personnel were granted free admission, invited to enjoy a reception later in the evening with musical entertainment and celebrity guest autograph signings from U.S. Marine J.R. Martinez – recent winner of Dancing with the Stars, and WWE personality, Sgt. Slaughter.
We hope all our guests had a blast – we certainly did!
