For the past two years, I have traveled the country with a mission to financially empower one million women.  As the author of the book, “A Purse of Your Own: An Easy Guide to Financial Security” I speak at conferences across the country and encourage women to start Purse Groups– five to ten women who agree to meet monthly to offer each other support to take control of their finances. The good news is that General Motors has been a huge supporter of the “A Purse of Your Own Campaign” for the past year, which allowed me to visit fifteen cities last year and practice what I preach—financial fitness.

The first stop on this years’ Purse Road Trip was Philadelphia and I estimate that traveling from the D.C. metro area in the Buick Regal versus an airplane allowed me to keep several hundred dollars in my purse and travel in comfort. Here’s how it all adds up:

Traveling in the Buick Regal also provided me with a companion— the OnStar navigator and I kept up to date on the financial markets via the CNBC Channel on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.   My next stop on the tour is Lancaster, Pa. and I will share more smart money travel tips on my path to financially empower women.  Perhaps every woman should have both a purse and Buick Regal of her own.   Big thanks to General Motors for supporting the “A Purse of Your Own Campaign” to financially empower one million women.
