The Army will take on the Navy in their 112th Army-Navy Football Game this Saturday broadcast at 2:30 p.m. EST on CBS. GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson and Chevrolet plan to show their support for America’s heroes – both on and off the field.
At “America’s Game,” Chevrolet will showcase a special Military Tribute Camaro. The Camaro represents all five branches of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard) and some of the military’s highest individual awards and current campaign medals.
CBS Sports will feature the vehicle with Dan Akerson, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Genna Griffith, director of Achilles Freedom Team, and several team members. Proceeds from next month’s sale of the vehicle at the Barrett-Jackson car auction will go to the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.
Additionally, Chevrolet will host several military families at the game and pay tribute to wounded servicemen and women with a 30-second TV spot and a short tribute to members who participated in the recent Detroit Free Press/ Talmer Bank Marathon. Click here to watch the inspiring video and read more about hand cyclist Lance Cpl. Justin Gaertner of Pasco County, Fla., who lost both legs while serving his third tour in Afghanistan.
Last year, Chevrolet donated a Silverado HD to the Achilles team to transport their bikes. This year, Chevrolet underwrote a portion of Achilles costs for participating in the Los Angeles, Boston and Detroit marathons, as well as other events. Chevrolet also has donated 20 hand cycles to the team.
Get your game face on and tune in Saturday afternoon for the 112th Army-Navy Football Game.
