General Motors was one of the proud sponsors of the 18th Annual Knock Out Abuse Against Women Gala held on Thursday, November 10, in Washington, D.C.  On this special night, Washington, D.C.’s most prominent women, from members of Congress to leaders in the corporate and philanthropic communities, gathered to Knock Out Abuse.

Over the years, this single night has raised more than 6.5 million dollars, which has gone toward restoring dignity and respect to thousands of victims of domestic violence in the National Capital area.  The evening is a celebration of the power of women to affect change for the most vulnerable women and children in our community.

Gala guests and dignitaries included Jill Sorensen and  Cheryl Davis Masri, Knock Out Abuse co-founders; Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony G. Brown; Andrea Roane, WUSA 9 Weekday Morning Anchor; Linda Fairstein, former prosecutor and best-selling novelist; and Jaci Wilson Reid, Governing Board member of the Diamond Empowerment Fund.

As one of the sponsors, GM provided Cadillac Escalades and SRX luxury crossovers to transport VIPs to and from the gala.  This is the second year that GM has participated in Knock Out Abuses’ gala event.
