GMC, an official sponsor of the NFL for seven years running, created some new “Never Say Never” moments for some lucky football fans by sending them to the 2011 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 28 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
These lucky fans watched several players arrive at the draft in their GMC vehicles and received exclusive seats to watch the draft live! During the event, all fans had the chance to pose with their favorite team jersey in front of the green screen in the GMC photo booth.
Carl Tirella of General Motors’ Treasury office reported live via Twitter as a fan and employee journalist at the event. Carl enjoyed meeting and greeting Philadelphia Eagles fan bloggers and shared that other highlights of his night included meeting ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, taking a picture in front of the GMC green screen with a Dallas Cowboys jersey and high-fiving Cam Newton, who was drafted to the Carolina Panthers, as Newton concluded a private press interview.
But above and beyond, Carl’s favorite “Never Say Never” moment took place when former firefighter Danny Watkins was drafted to the Philadelphia Eagles and several servicemen and women hit the stage to salute their colleagues around the world.
“Attending the NFL Draft in person, rather than just watching it on TV was a lot of fun and was an experience that every football fan should have, ” said Carl.
