Route 95 is arguably one of the most traveled roads in the United States. 1,919 miles of asphalt winding up the east coast from Miami to Canada plays host to millions of family road trips each year. Pit stops are a staple of any good road trip and whether it’s to see the world’s largest ball of yarn or a trip into Amish country, sometimes a road trip is only as good as the places you stop at. But, there comes a point where you can only consume so much truck stop food, that’s why this week Driving The Northeast is highlighting three great roadside eats for family road trips.
For this trip imagine you and your family are coming from the Washington, DC area. You have packed up all your gear in your Chevy Volt and are heading to Cape Cod for a week. Heading out from the city you jump on the beltway, 495, using OnStar your car routes you towards 95 north. You start the drive out early to beat rush out and somewhere between getting your family up and packing the car you forgot to eat breakfast. As your stomach grumbles you find yourself passing Baltimore. If you find yourself in a similar situation jump off at exit 41 A/B to enjoy a delicious morning breakfast at R&R Taqueria. A hidden gem in the back of a gas station, R&R Taqueria will whip up a delicious omelet to soothe your hunger pains.
