For those DC-area residents awake bright and early on Monday morning, you may have caught Kelly Shim, Executive Director and Founder of KaleidoLINKS, Brock Yates, Jr., coordinator of One Lap of America, and our very own Heather Rosenker, GM Policy and Washington Communications, LIVE on WTTG/FOX 5, sharing some of the inspiring work and student stories of those involved with the inner-city youth program.
General Motors and its Foundation have been steadfast supporters of the KaleidoLINKS non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. The FOX piece publicized the program’s participation in the national One Lap of America race, the efforts of the students, and support of corporate sponsors.
KaleidoLINKS provides at-risk high school students with quality after school programming that challenges them in all facets of academic (STEM) and personal growth. KaleidoLINKS racing with the support of General Motors and the Foundation modified two racing cars for their 2011 & 2012 KL Racing seasons, a Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe, and a Chevrolet Sonic. Most recently, the Camaro was used in the One Lap of America race where KaleidoLINKS placed third best in their class.
