Main Street in Motion made a recent stop at Gillette Stadium (home of the NFL’s New England Patriots) in Foxborough, Mass. New Englanders braved the triple-digit temps Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 22-24) to test-drive a wide range of Chevrolet, Buick and GMC models, along with competitor models.
The 15th in a series of 24 Main Street In Motion events this year got off to a roaring start on Friday, as 36 red 2011 Chevrolet Camaros were revved up, shown the checkered flag, and driven away as part of a tribute to a World War II POW.
While the Camaro and its sister high-performance car, the Corvette, proved major draws at the event, more than 70 models ranging from the GMC Yukon Denali Hybrid to the Chevrolet Cruze and Buick Enclave were tested and retested all weekend long.
Although plenty of skilled drivers could be found weaving between the cone-lined courses, we bumped into one driver with quite a few hours logged behind the wheel of high-octane vehicles. Professional driver René Villeneuve was on hand to field questions at the Corvette/Camaro test track. Villeneuve also showcased StabiliTrak on the GMC Terrain — a new technology helping keep cars in control on the road—while a Buick vehicle cutaway on display detailed Rollover Mitigation Technology (designed to predict rollovers).
If you haven’t been to a Main Street in Motion event yet, there’s still time! The last stop left in the Northeast Region in 2011 is at the Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., July 29-31.
