On the evening of Wednesday, May 30 members of the Latino GLBT History Project (LHP) and members of the Latino GLBT community came together in celebration of D.C. Latino Pride for an evening of mixing, mingling and education at the Human Rights Campaign.  As a sponsor for the evening, the Chevrolet Malibu Eco, was available for test rides and drives.

The Latino GLBT History Project is a non-profit volunteer-led organization founded in April 2000.  LHP creates educational exhibits from their historical archives collection showcased at cultural events such as, a Women’s History Month Reception, a Hispanic GLBT Heritage Reception and D.C. Latino Pride.

On Wednesday evening, more than 300 members of the Hispanic GLBT community gathered to network and learn more via a community resource fair.  An employment discrimination panel discussion was also held including speakers Alexa Rodriguez from the TransLatin@ Coalition, Gustavo F. Valesquez, Director of the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights and Jack Harrison, Policy Analyst for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute.

Going to the Capital Pride Parade on June 9?  Keep an eye out for the LHP’s king and queen aboard the LHP’s Capital Pride Parade vehicle, the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible SS, and make sure to give them your best parade wave and winning smile!
