On April 17, we joined American University to celebrate Earth Day during their Earth Week BBQ and Fair. The Chevrolet Sonic and Chevrolet Volt were available to faculty, staff and students to get a better look at what eco-friendly products GM has to offer.
Tuesday was AU’s Campus Beautification day and included activities like a community BBQ, campus tree planting and fun university prizes like credit card gift cards. AU also honored one university faculty member with the 2012 Green Teacher of the Year award, which was presented by Provost Scott Bass and AU’s Center for Teaching, Research and Learning Director Naomi Baron.
While AU spent the afternoon beautifying campus and bringing eco-friendly awareness to the AU community the GM Northeast team was there showing off the Chevrolet Volt, GM’s electric car with extended range capability, as well as the environmentally conscious Chevrolet Sonic. BBQ attendees got to test drive or ride in the Volt, some trying out their very first electric car, while others learned more about the Sonic and the Ecologic behind it.
