July 28 – GM Foundation, Chevrolet and Travis Manion Foundation Announcement

On Thursday, July 28,  the General Motors Foundation (GMF) and Chevrolet will present a significant donation to the Travis Manion Foundation to support the 2011 9/11 Heroes Run.

On the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks this year, the Heroes Run will bring communities together in 25 U.S. cities to honor military, police, firefighters and first responders who have given their lives to protect and save others. Proceeds from the 5K races will go to the families of fallen heroes.

Founded in 2007 by the Manion family after U.S. Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion was killed by enemy fire in Fallujah, Iraq, the foundation assists wounded veterans and their families.
