In addition to the daily services they provide to the Philadelphia community, the dedicated men and women of Youth Service, Inc. are even busier this time of year, delivering holiday gifts to the families and children within their programs. Youth Service, Inc. (YSI) is a non-profit organization that has provided immediate shelter and support to Philadelphia’s children and families for nearly 60 years. Through shelter, counseling and in-home support services, YSI reaches 5,000 children and adults annually, ninety-two percent of whom live below the poverty level.
Chevrolet was more than happy to help YSI deliver some holiday gifts in a brand new Chevy Equinox. YSI Associate Executive Director Bernice Andrews (pictured above, right) took the Equinox to deliver gifts with School and Family Engagement (SAFE) Coordinator Stephanie Matsinger. SAFE provides support to families in West Philadelphia who are referred to the program because they have middle school-aged children in their homes with academic and behavioral issues. The program focuses on the family, with two home visits per month and an after-school program two days a week for the students.
With the help of the Equinox, Bernice and Stephanie were able to make their gift deliveries throughout the city and spread some holiday cheer to their SAFE families. For more information about YSI, please visit ysiphilly.org.
